Richard (Dick)Lewis Henderson, age 79, passed away peacefully at his home in Gilbert, on Monday, May 28, 2018. He was born on December 21, 1938 in Wheeling, West Virginia to Robert and Virginia (Lewis) Henderson. Richard lived in Ohio until junior high and then moved with his mother to La Jolla, CA where he graduated from La Jolla High School. He later returned to Ohio to attend Wittenberg University and graduate with a degree in Education. He went on to receive two master degrees in biochemistry and business from University of Toledo. On August 25, 1962, he married his college sweetheart, Barbara Ann Erf, to whom he remained married to until his passing. Together, they have three daughters. In 1979, they moved the family to Arizona to open the Drug Emporium retail chain. Richard enjoyed playing golf, managing his stock portfolio, reading, watching sports and spending time with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 56 years, Barbara, and daughters, Lynn Peterson (Eric), Lisa Boyer (Tony) and Lara Henderson; grandchildren, Kyle, Katie, Kailey, Peyton, Logan and Perri. A celebration of life will be held at a later date this summer. In lieu of cards or flowers, the family would suggest and appreciate a donation benefiting a charity of your choice.
