Richard's obituary
Richard Dorman Delano, 70, passed away on March 21, 2025, in Dinwiddie, Virginia. Born on November 17, 1954, in Richmond City, Virginia, Richard lived a life defined by creativity, ingenuity, and an unwavering love for the world around him.
A true jack of all trades, Richard was a master sculptor, a skilled carpenter, and a dedicated rehabilitation engineer. His hands shaped not only marble but also the lives of those he touched. Whether sculpting intricate works of art or repairing what others deemed beyond repair, Richard had an innate ability to bring beauty and function to everything he encountered. His inventive spirit knew no bounds—if something was broken, Richard could fix it.
Beyond his professional talents, Richard was an artist in every sense of the word. Music flowed effortlessly from his fingertips as they played the banjo, guitar, bass, mandolin—indeed, any instrument he picked up. His passion for music was matched only by his love for sculpting and art. Every creation bore the mark of his boundless imagination and skill.
Richard’s sense of humor was legendary. He had a way of bringing laughter into any room and lifting spirits with his quick wit and infectious joy. Those who knew him will forever cherish the warmth and light he brought into their lives.
