Richard Lee Deese

Born January 18,1930 preceded in death by his father Richard Samuel Deese, Mother Ruby Mae (Prim) Deese, and brother Ray Deese of Charlotte, NC.

Loving husband for 40 years to Brenda Moriarty Deese who says no one could have been blessed with a kinder or sweeter husband. Richard is “Pop” to their six children: Mike Deese, Debra Deese Batchelor, Forrest Edge, Tom Edge, Lora Leftwich and Barb Garris.

Adoring grandfather to fourteen grandchildren; Chris Edge, Courtney Sanders, Ashley Avery, Jennifer Leftwich, Matthew Edge, Joshua Leftwich, Kelsey Edge, Lauren Edge, Taylor Richardson, Haley Deese, Jonathan Leftwich, Joseph Leftwich, Jean May, and Kate Weisner, and to fourteen great grandchildren; Lexi Edge, Maddi Edge, Christopher Edge, Luke Leftwich, Cam Sanders, Andrew Sanders, Lucy Merriman, James Leftwich, Lynleigh May, Cade Leftwich, Sullivan Avery, Holston Avery, Hank May and Levi Leftwich. Each of these children have brough immense joy to Richard.

Richard retired as Vice President of Sales and Marketing with Jordan Graphics after 32 years of service and was the Co-Owner of the Print Connection for 15 years. He was a member of GraceLife Church of Pineville for over 42 years and served as a deacon, teacher, and chaired numerous planning and finance teams over the years. He served on the Board of Directors of The Charlotte Rescue Mission and Jordan Graphics.

Richard was a submarine sailor on the USS Sea Poacher SS-406 during the Korean War. While stateside he was stationed in Groton, Connecticut and Key West, Florida. He received an honorable discharge from the US Navy in 1952.

Richard loved his family and many special friends, playing golf and sharing his faith. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at GraceLife Church of Pineville, NC (705 Lakeview Drive Pineville, NC 28134) on January 29, 2022, at 2:00 PM. The family will visit with friends before the service from 12:00 -1:30 PM. Masks are requested for the safety of family and friends.
