Richard's obituary
Richard “Dick” Wilson, 77, passed away on November 24, 2025, in Fort Myers, Florida. He was born on April 14, 1948, in Hillsdale, Michigan. Richard was known for his silly demeanor, his generous heart, and his loyal dedication to the family and friends he loved so dearly. Anyone who knew Richard knows he was the “life of the party” in any situation, bringing humor and energy that made everyday life more entertaining.
Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved spending time outdoors, fishing, boating, and enjoying time on the lake with those closest to him. He and his wife shared many adventures traveling together, eventually spending their winters in Florida. On quiet afternoons, Richard could often be found sitting on his porch, listening to music from his record player and taking in the world around him.
Of the many legacies he leaves behind, one of the greatest is the joy he brought to his family through the hobbies and games he introduced—traditions that remain cherished to this day, from skiing in the winter months to poker games that stretched late into the night at family gatherings. His spirit will be deeply missed by his friends, his family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Richard took great pride in working with his hands and mastering countless trades. He spent much of his career in tool and die, working for years at Allied and American Tooling before proudly helping his son launch his own business, Wilco. Skilled and resourceful, Richard could build a home, paint a house, or repair nearly anything placed in front of him. If help was needed, he was the first person family and friends called. He never hesitated to lend his time, his knowledge, or his steady hands to anyone in need.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Mary Sue Wilson (Hilton); his three children, Jeff Wilson (Kim), Ammie Wilson Rodden (Jonathan), and Julie Wilson; his nine grandchildren, Cody McLain, Levi Wilson (Leah), Devon Wilson, Emma Moore, Jacob Wilson, Nathaniel Rodden, Noah Moore, Anna Rodden, and Evelyn Rodden; his two great-grandchildren, Russel Wilson and Wade Wilson; and his sister, Linda Waters. He is predeceased by his parents, Levi and Hildred Wilson (Loomis); his brother, Jim Wilson; and his sister, Mary Baker.
His signature greeting ‘What do you say?’ will echo in our hearts forever. Until we see you again, Richard.
