Richard Joseph Davis Sr, 81, of Telephone, Texas, passed away on February 10, 2022 at TMC Hospital in Denison, Texas. Richard was born on May 28, 1940  to Frank Joseph Davis and Marcella Hermann in Chicago, Illinois. Marcella and Frank had five kids, Frances, Richard, Patricia, John and Kevin Davis. After graduating from Joliet Township High School in 1968, he went on to become a police officer in Chicago for a few years before moving to Texas. He moved to Texas in the 1970's and married Lorretta Smith. They had four children, Richard Joseph Jr, Dicky Joe, Victor Marlon, & Michelle Ann. 

Richard married Teryl Ann Conner in 1984 and they had three kids, Joey Lee Edmondson, Terry Joe (TJ) Davis and Beth Ann Davis.

Richard, also known as RJ, was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was a friend to many and was always willing to help the community. You could always pick him out in a crowded room, all you had to do was listen for the booming voice. One of his favorite hobbies was going to the antique store and bringing home a big haul of all different types of art, lamps, and sculptures. He was known around town in his younger days with his loud trash trucks, roll-off trucks and Harley Davidson's. 

Richard was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Marcella Davis, and his two siblings Frances Patricia Klecka and John Patrick Davis, and his son Dicky Joe Davis. He is survived by the following kids and grand children: Richard Joseph Jr and Sandra Davis with their two kids, Keith Joseph Davis and Seth Joseph Davis.  Victor and Lisa Davis with their four kids, Sarah Ashley Voorheis, Kayle Dawn Davis, Justin Tyler Davis, Richard Glen Davis. Michelle and Danny Yarbrough with their two kids, Casey Nichole Blesi and Cameron Drew Blesi. Joey Lee Edmondson and Sandra Barraza. T.J. and Brandy Davis with their four kids, Hunter Shane Davis, Jaxtyn Wayne Davis, Taylor Lee Gray,  Stacia Brown. Stacia is married to Patrick Brown and they have one child, Elijah Brown. Beth Davis and Rowdy Williams with their three kids, Christopher Bryce Lane, Trip Tucker Williams and Tate Ryne Williams. 

Richard did not want a funeral service, but we appreciate all the love and support and encourage everyone to share their favorite memories of him on this memorial website. The family viewing was held on February 11, 2022 at Cooper Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham, Texas at 10:30am.
