I was sailing on the SF Bay for fleet week last week. The bay reminds me of Rich because we spent so much time sailing together on my boat. Our favorite times was docking on Angel Island for the weekend and sleeping on the boat. Soon after our sailing adventures we both took up windsurfing. I miss Richie’s friendship, his humor, positive attitude and of course his cooking. My young daughters at the time remember him fondly, they are 42 now. Rich was taken away from us way too early. I think of him all the time. Rest in peace my friend. Edwin

I remember the Youth Event at the San Francisco Writers Conference, just four years ago in February, when Rich Chin volunteered to escort and usher the scores of students who walked down from Chin Elementary School to hear an author. He gave the students directions with patience and joy. I will never forget his brilliant smile, his enthusiasm for life, his love of youngsters.
Rich, or Mr Chin, as we also affectionately and respectfully referred to him, had a rich and interesting life. There wasn’t much he couldn’t add to any story or experience we told. He, and Brenda, were most gracious host on my last trip to California. I will affectionately remember Rich, for his intellect, and good humor. He will be missed. Sincere condolences
Very sorry to say goodbye to Rich. I fondly remember his warm smile, generous spirit and infectious curiosity. My condolences to Brenda and Rich’s entire family.
