I have stayed quiet these past few weeks because I have not really known what to say. He was my daddy. I find that I still reach for my phone to call and talk to him sometimes. I really miss him but I know that he is with God and is so much better off. I was a pain a lot of my childhood and even into my adulthood but he still loved me nonetheless. He was the best father that I could have ever been blessed to have. He taught me so many things and was always there to offer wisdom....sometimes not even asked for or wanted. But that is the type of man that he was caring, compassionate, funny and sometimes just as stubborn as the little girl that he raised! I will continue to move through life knowing that he is with me always. He will be my guiding star and that small voice that keeps me straight. I love you Dad and will miss you more then any amount of words will ever begin to state. Rest in peace until I get to see you again. I love you

I become all smiles when I think of Richard. He was the oldest of all the Assad cousins and I, was at the other end, seeming to be one of the youngest, beside's Eddie.  Richard was always the very kind, FUN, yet the levelheaded one who seemed to keep our family circus in motion. Reading about Richard's life I'm grateful to see he followed his gifts of being in a career, for the love of the world.  It's was fabulous to meet beautiful Arla and see Richard had a  beautiful family of children, grand children and even great grandchild.  Blessed to know Richard lived a life he loved, embracing and being embraced in return.  - I am sorry I can not be there in person for this sacred time, and I have Richard planted in my heart, loving him  with fair'wells till we meet again.  Much Love to Richards families and all who were touched by his grace and joy!    Darlene Mea, Levine... I am so so sorry for your loss and will try my best to fly out and be at the funeral.  My heart is aching for you all.  I'm hoping to see you next weekend and give you all a big hug!

My Name is Terry, Yolanda’s Sister I remember Richard introducing me to Jesus, I found it strange the way he talked about Him, it was so different from our Catholic ways. And because of that seed years later I received Jesus into my heart. Thank you brother.

He also introduced me to cold pizza, which I found it delicious. He opened a new world to me in so many other ways. He was nice and treated us like a close family. I will miss him but I know we will be reunited soon.

I'm Evangelina Serrano, sister to Yolanda.

I remember your 1978 Red Convertible Fiat Spyder.  One time you gave me a ride and I stood up for a few blocks and I thought it was the biggest thrill of my life! Before seat belts of course.

That made me want to buy a convertible someday but I never did.

I'm glad that Arla became our sister and grateful that she was kind and patient to us, she always  loved you very much.

Hola Richard! This is Maggie, Yolie's baby sister.

I remember back in the late 60's when you guys lived in Arcadia and someone gave you a box of See's Candies.  I couldn't wait for you to go to work so I can eat them; when I finally opened the box - - -YOU had already taken a small bite off of each one of them!!! Of course I didn't care, I was 10, I ate them anyway! To this day I always think of you when I get a box of See's Candies and now "I" bite each one till I get to the one I like!

I remember when you married Arla, there were butterflies all around her beautiful dress.  As if, it was a blessing that you found love.

Salud to you Hermano.  I will miss you and  love you.  Be not afraid, your Sister Maggie.

I'm writing for Rosemary and Bobbie and Ricardo Serrano. Siblings to Yolanda.

Even though Rosemary died in 2025.  I know she loved and admired you so much!

Bobbie lives in Ensenada, Mexico and he said that since Carlos and Niki were only 3 months apart, they enjoyed your visit to Mexico City and watching the boys interact and how caring you were as a new father.

Ricardo said he remembers your visit in Mexico City at Jorge's small apartment.  He was a new cop in the Mexican Police Department and he visited you and "La Flaca" while you guys were there.  Since he attended  a few years of High School at La Puente High, his english was rough but he enjoyed trying to talk to you.

We all respected him.

I'm Armando Serrano. Brother to Yolanda.

I remember the trips to Colorado River early 1970's and  learning how water sky along with my sisters Linda and  Terry.  As a teenager, I thought it was really  hard!  Afterwards,  Richard introduced me to my first ROOT BEER FLOAT at  A & W Root Beer.  I loved the good cold refreshing taste it left in my mouth, I always think of him whenever I order one now.

I also remember when my sister Maggie and I went to New York and how we couldn't even flush the toilet at their home because the pipes were frozen!  Coming from California I didn't understand how and why people would want to live in New York!

"A HUI HOU" (Until we meet again).

Coreen and Mando

A Special Salute to you from HI.   Aloha Hermano.
