Richard's obituary
Richie was born on February 17, 1946 to Camille and Eveline Brosseau in Montreal, Quebec. He came to the U.S. at the age of 23 and spent over 40 years working with horses, retiring in 2007 as Starter for the New York Racing Association.
Richie was known for his big personality, love for animals, and penchant for telling jokes. He was always determined to provide for his children and give them the life he felt they deserved. They meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. Richie also found great pleasure in sports, especially hockey, both playing in his younger years and cheering on the Montreal Canadiens. Though a Canadian through and through, Richie was also very proud to become a citizen of the United States in 2011.
Richard was predeceased by his devoted mother, Eveline Martin Brosseau-Dubrule, his hard-working father, Camille Brosseau, and his loving sister, Claire Grégoire. He is survived by his children, daughter, Corine Rishkel, of Goshen, NY, son, Connor Brosseau of Chester, NY, and son-in-law, Joseph Rishkel IV of Goshen, NY, as well as his brother-in-law, André Grégoire, and beloved niece and nephew, Chantal and Stephane Grégoire, and their partners, Andrée, Mélanie, and Linda.
Funeral services are to be private. In lieu of flowers, Richie’s family would very much appreciate donations in his honor to either the Leukemia Lymphoma Society (lls.org) which provided him with the funding to cover his own chemotherapy treatment, or Thoroughbred Charities of America (tca.org) which supports the racehorses he devoted so much of his life to.
