Richard's obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Richard Michael Bernstein, born on February 17, 1950 in Brooklyn NY, leaving us peacefully in his home in Boca Raton FL on March 19, 2024. A beacon of light in the lives of those he touched, Richie, aka Papi, Papa, Daddy, Dad, Doiddy, was known for his infectious humor, witty personality, forthright honesty, staunch morals, boundless intelligence, and a playful sense of silliness that brightened any room he entered. He always had a joke, found humor in everything and made all those he met laugh, or at least smile.

Richie’s life was defined by his remarkable accomplishments, both personal and professional. A proud alumnus of Cornell University, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to build several successful businesses, a testament to Richie’s firm belief in the value of hard work, understanding the worth of a dollar, and his true talent and grit to fix anything with his hands. Yet, amongst all his achievements, the one he held closest to his heart was the family he lovingly nurtured and raised. He truly lived to create memories and experiences with his family. He also loved dogs (RIP Missy, Benji, Junior, Ruthie, and Jackson), his childhood friend group, comedy and live theater, reading books, crossword puzzles, good NY pizza, matzo ball soup, any dessert, boardgames, and being outside with nature.

Richie was a man of high moral compass who lived his life based on the principle of always doing what's right. His enduring legacy lives on through his children, and grandchildren. Survivors include his best friend, Linda Bernstein; beloved son Ken Bernstein, daughter-in-law, Jami Bernstein; beloved daughter, Melyssa Bernstein, son-in-law Raphel Serfaty; beloved daughter Rebecca Champion, son-in-law Nicholas Champion. He was also survived by his loving and adoring grandchildren; Jack and Dylan Bernstein; Eloise and Henri Bernstein Serfaty; and Bella, Nicholas, and Charlotte Champion. And finally his beloved brother, William Bernstein.

Rather than grieve his loss, let us celebrate Richie's life, remembering him for the extraordinary man that he was. His spirit will continue to illuminate our lives, guiding us towards a path filled with love, integrity, and unyielding positivity. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
