I was sad to hear. Br. Avis helped many including my family, he had a special connection with the kids always encouraging them. He was very helpful and comforting with my parents . He helped many and will be missed. Jehovah will comfort his family
He was kind lover of the truth ,my teacher  1974 till now .thankful  to  have meet  him  his family  whom I ❤️ love
Wishing soothing comfort to the Avis family, while reflecting on the great example Dick Avis has given us as a loving and compassionate congregation elder, tireless volunteer with  hospital liaison committee services in helping so many to find the best doctors in critical medical situations at all hours of the day and night, and lifelong friend to my parents, my sister, and me.

I’d like to express our deepest condolences to Emily, Amy, Rick, Kenny and family.

Also to all of us who were made to feel like family by the warm, passionate shepherding of our dear brother Avis.

Words cannot express the impact that Dick had on all our lives. Jehovah used him in a powerful way to shepherd and guide us. I have no doubt that he will continue to bring that kind, warm-hearted and compassionate guidance in the new world when our great God Jehovah restores him to life.

We are made in God’s image. We are like him in many ways.

One way: He remembers

He can remember those who have died and He can use that memory to restore them to life in the resurrection.

We can remember them too. We can remember Br. Avis. We can keep that memory alive in our mind and heart until the day we see him again.

All his hopes and dreams and passions in life…we can remember and honor. What would he want you to do?

Make it to the new world!

Let’s keep him alive in our hearts by letting his life course continue to impact us in positive ways. Let’s work on our five year plans. Let’s encourage our children and all the young ones to serve Jehovah with their whole heart and give him their best while they are young.

What an honor it has been to serve side by side with him. I’m sad but also happy to know he is safe in Jehovah’s memory.

See you soon.

Much love

Chipmunk cheeks 💞

I was [ and still am so very sad] when I heard the news of Br Avis’ passing. I remember the very first time he and Brother Smith came to my door in 1985-86 He helped to encourage me to return back to the Meetings. He always complimented my smile. I Loved our Dear precious Brother, looking forward to seeing him again in Jehovah’s promise New Paradise Earth. Heartfelt condolences and prayers to His Loving Family and Loved ones.

I can’t remember a time when Uncle Dick and Aunt Emily were not in my life.  He wore so many hats in our family, most of all loving and encouraging in the best of times and also in those times where he would share the most comforting scriptures from the Bible to keep us strong and lighten our burdens.

He always kept us  active as teenagers. Meeting as a group get together to study the Watchtower.  Then fun get togethers at their home.   During the many  hospital visits, some more serious than others, Uncle Dick was always there.

They are no words to share how much our family loved Uncle Dick and for me personally he was the person that turned my life around.

Until I see you again, your niece Denise

I remember Brother Avis with great fondness. As a very young child at the Central Cong. in Tampa, he would call me Del Monte banana and I would respond with, " no Chiquita banana".  He was and is a wonderful loving brother who will be missed until we see him again in paradise.  My heartfelt condolences to sister Avis, Rick, Ken and Emily and the rest of the family.  Isaiah 25:8 Jehovah will completely do away with death and no more tears.  With deepest Christian Love, Debra Gilley
Such a beautiful obituary.  It was a privilege knowing Bro. Avis. He was such a loving and giving brother!! He spent many hours with my family at the hospital.  And we have the gift of two coins 🪙 🤗 . We treasure them as we treasure him❤️
