Rick's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard "Rick" Leslie, who left us on February 3, 2024. Born on December 19, 1946, Rick truly lived a life full of warmth, friendliness, and thoughtfulness that touched everyone he encountered. His generosity of spirit and empathetic nature earned him many friends throughout his lifetime.
He had a great appreciation for the simple things. Catching up with the neighbors or making a new friend became one of his favorite past times while taking one of his many daily walks. A lifelong Packers fan, Rick enjoyed the camaraderie and competition that came with the love of a sports team. There was nothing easier than breaking the ice with a stranger by bringing up the latest game.
His curiosity never waned. He was a long distance runner, avid reader, world traveler, member of the army, forester, photographer, laborer on the alaskan pipeline, nuclear plant technician, and manager for restaurants, pharmacies, and convenient stores. He learned a lot in his lifetime and shared it whenever appropriate. He was a dedicated worker always putting in the extra effort. But none of that eclipsed his treatment of people. Your name and how your day was going was always top of mind with him. He had a strong sense of right and wrong which brought empathy and respect for all.
Rick's greatest pride was his family. He found joy in the achievements of his loved ones, especially his daughter and three grandchildren. Rick's interest in the lives and activities of his sister, brothers, nieces and nephews was also unswerving. His affection at times seemed boundless. His heart would fill with joy and eyes with tears when anyone had some good news to share.
Rick's passing has left an irreplaceable void. He will be remembered as a light-bringer and a character of substance, leaving a lasting imprint in our hearts. He will be greatly missed, and forever cherished.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Arbor Day Foundation to honor Rick's love of nature. Please visit https://everloved.com/life-of… to contribute.
