Ricardo's obituary

Ricardo Wilfred White passed away peacefully at his home in Henderson, Nevada on February 28, 2023. Ricardo, better known as Rick, was born in Gatun, Canal Zone, Panama on March 11, 1944, to the late Wilfred and Karen White. He was 78 years old. Ricardo graduated from Rainbow High School with the Class of 1962.

After immigrating to New York, Rick worked for Merrill Lynch & company for many years. There he met a host of friends, from his native country of Panama, forming amazing and inseparable bonds. Ricardo was inducted into the U.S. Army and served in Pleiku, Vietnam as a Personnel Specialist to a 400-man company. He was honorably discharged in 1968. After returning to New York, he became a New York City Housing Authority Policeman. He earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Long Island University in 1983.

Ricardo moved to Los Angeles and became a published columnist at Long Island University’s Seawanhaka Confrontation Magazine, UCLA’s Daily Bruin, and The Los Angeles Sentinel. He was a playwright and director for local and regional theaters throughout Los Angeles. When Ricardo moved to Austin, Texas, he worked for National Evaluation Systems and the U.S. Census Bureau. Ricardo lived out his golden years in Henderson, Nevada.

Ricardo was the epitome of a brilliant and polished man who was intelligent, genuine at heart, adventurous, passionate, and very handsome as well. He had an easy-going, cool, calm, funny, and free-spirited demeanor. He was an avid reader and had a great love of music. Ricardo was an exceptional conversationalist with a strong talent and ability to hold a discussion about any topic with anyone and always made it a point to convey and express his opinions.

In his own right, Ricardo was indeed a creative genius. He was an esteemed writer and artistic creator. Ricardo’s creativity was evidenced by his animated storytelling and passion for debating current world issues. He penned a 400-page novel, Chasing Spirits, that was a mystery loosely based on his own life. His visionary mind produced a mass collection of one-of-a-kind pieces of artwork. Ricardo White’s ingenious mind and impeccable charm will forever be missed.

Ricardo is survived by his wife Rosalind Anderson, brother Roberto White, sisters Patricia McQueen, Barbara Small, Cecilia White, Loraine White, Susana White, many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
