Ricardo Razo Barron
July 26, 1952-May 25, 2023
"He who loses wealth loses much; he who loses a friend loses more; but he that loses his courage loses all."
- Miguel de Cervantes
Ricardo Razo Barron left this world peacefully and courageously on May 25, 2023. He was born on July 26, 1952, in Stockton, CA, to Antonio and Antonia Barron of Salamanca, Gto. A self-described "prickly cactus, " Ricardo's life was dedicated to the noble causes of saving humanity, prioritizing his faith in God and his love for his country.
He was a devoted father to Daniel Antonio Barron and Maria Mercedes Barron from his marriage to Cindy Gentry and Ricardo (Rico) Alexander Barron from his marriage to Erin MacGeraghty. Ricardo is survived by his three younger siblings, Rebeca, Rafael (Ralph), and Michael Barron.
Ricardo, a pioneering hardware engineer in Silicon Valley for 22 years, achieved remarkable accomplishments at leading technology firms. Among his many achievements, he developed testing equipment for satellite earth sensors, created a device bridging analog and digital telephone equipment, and played a pivotal role in developing testing procedures for cardiac ultrasound.
In his leisure time, Ricardo indulged in his love of music and food. He taught himself to play the guitar and keyboards and was a talented songwriter and poet. In the kitchen, Ricardo's culinary prowess rivaled even his mother's, skillfully utilizing vegetables from his bountiful garden.
Ricardo was also a licensed ham radio operator. In his radio program on KZSU, Stanford University's radio station, he played music reflecting his eclectic musical range and love of stand-up comedy.
Ricardo had a remarkable sense of humor, catching people off guard with his swift wit. An introvert by nature, Ricardo often surprised others with his hidden talents and the profound love and passion he held for the things and people he deeply cared about. A patriot, Ricardo generously contributed to various veterans' organizations. He leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication to his beliefs.
Rest in peace, Ricardo, and thank you for all the lives you touched, what you did to make this world a better place, and for daring to dream impossible dreams.
