Ricardo's obituary

Ricardo “Richard” Cadiz passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on March 25, 1933, in the Philippines, Richard lived a long, meaningful life defined by service, perseverance, generosity, and deep love for his family.

Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Magdalena “Nena” Cadiz, who passed away on August 13, 2024. Their bond was unwavering, and together they shared a beautiful life and raised one son, Christopher. Richard followed her in passing just one year later, a testament to their profound and enduring connection.

A proud and courageous veteran, Richard honorably served in two branches of the United States military. He first served in the U.S. Army Airborne during the Korean War in 1950 and later in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War in 1965 as part of the Special Forces Green Beret. His bravery, discipline, and commitment to his country were a reflection of his strength and character.

An ambitious and self-made man, Richard built a successful family business in the Bay Area—a Filipino restaurant he lovingly named Richard’s Place. He took immense pride in cooking his favorite Filipino dishes, catering weddings and special events, and creating a welcoming space for the loyal community that adored him. His charisma, humor, and warmth made everyone feel at home.

Richard was also a joyful and gentle soul who loved gardening, tending to plants, admiring flowers, and collecting photographs of the people and memories that meant the most to him. He had a natural gift for bringing people together and was always ready to help family, friends, or anyone in need. His generosity touched countless lives.

Richard is survived by his son, Christopher, daughter-in-law, his three grandchildren, his two daughters, and his sister. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, cherished brother, loyal friend, and a man whose kindness and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He will be deeply missed and forever honored.
