Rhonda's obituary
Rhonda Jean Girdley, 64, of Wheeler, entered into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, November 22, 2025, with her family by her side. She was born on January 20, 1961 in Sanger, California to Samuel and Barbara Beard. Rhonda touched countless lives with her kindheartedness and vibrant spirit. Her fervor for life and her willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need were distinctive qualities that will be deeply missed. She lived her life fully, cherishing every moment, and leaving lasting memories in the hearts of those who knew her.
She earned her High School GED and married the love of her life, Steven James Girdley on June 6, 1980. She worked in various service-based industries over the years, but was most proud of her service at Wheeler Independent School District, where she was affectionately known as “Miss G.”
Rhonda was an active member of Cornerstone Church in Wheeler, TX and treasured her church family. She enjoyed traveling and was up to any adventure! Music brought her joy, and she especially enjoyed attending concerts. Above all, Rhonda cherished her children—Courtney, Jennifer, and Jared—but nothing compared to the love and adoration she had for her grandbabies.
Welcoming her into Heaven are her parents, Samuel and Barbara; her beloved husband, Steven Girdley; her sister, Sandy Immel; and her nephew, James Henson.
Those left to carry on her memory include her children: Courtney Blackmon and husband Josh of Pampa; Jennifer Nowlin and partner Bradley Pace of Oklahoma City; and Jared McArthur and wife Liz of Siloam Springs, Arkansas. She is also survived by her sister, Karen McNeil and husband Danny of Wheeler; Brother in Law, Cifford Immel of Wheeler; three grandchildren—Trinity Lowrance and fiancé Keegan Sullivan, Adilee Blackmon, and Gavin McArthur; her best friend, Cherokee Sue Travis; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends she welcomed as family.
Celebration of Life services are scheduled for Saturday, November 29 at 2:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Church with Pastor Erron Mercer officiating. Rhonda chose to continue her giving spirit by donating her body to science, ensuring that even in passing, she could contribute to medical research and education—helping future generations through advancements in healthcare and knowledge.
Should donations in honor of Rhonda be a preference, the family suggests they be made to Cornerstone Church, 601 Main Street, Wheeler, Texas 79096 or Harrington Cancer and Health Foundation.
