So upsetting to hear of his loss. He was my dear baseball teammate at Great Neck North. I will miss his smile and wonderful nature., Dr Lloyd Harris

I will miss you, Rex. You lived a full life

Rex and Carolyn were/are some of the nicest, most sincere people I've known. Rex always greeted me with an enthusiastic, "Hi Heather!! How are you?" and always asked about my sons. We had many enjoyable sports conversations at Udall. I'm grateful that I was invited to join them for dinners at Eclectic and Canyon's Crown. He has left a void and will continue to be missed.

Rex was a dear friend and cherished colleague. For almost 10 years, we were side-by-side, creating and producing, along with our great friend Scott, the leading national monthly magazine for football coaches, American Football Monthly. Rex was friends with coaches all over the country and very respected. His relationships were the key to our success.
Rex loved Notre Dame and the Red Sox. Despite my hatred of both, we always had spitited and good-humored banter. We went to ball games together, competed in hundreds of office football pools and talked baseball for hours. After I left we met up for lunch every Wednesday at Costco for a $1.50 hot dog just to catch up. To Rex, just being together was as good as going to the best restaurant in town.
I never heard Rex say an unkind word about anyone. That's the kind man he was. Thanks, Rex for all the great work and all the laughs.
Carolyn, Sue and I send our deepest condolences.

Rex was my first boss at Turner Sports and became a treasured friend. He never forgot my birthday or Christmas for over 35 years. He was one fine man and I will miss his friendship. Sending prayers to Carolyn and the Lardner family. Ann Johnson 🙏

I first met Rex and Carolyn at the Sabino Canyon apartment pool in 2019. They invited Tim and I to dinner and it was a fabulous friendship ever since! Lots of talks about sports - mostly UofM and Notre Dame - we always got a chuckle when Rex gestures his “time out” or “foul” in our conversations. We are gonna miss you Rex! We will be sure to have a White Russian in honor of you! We love you Carolyn and hold you in our thoughts.

Rex was my brother-in-law married to my sister Carolyn. My husband Gerry & I got to know him in the last 12 years as a kind, loving and great guy. He had a way with people making friends easily & kept his friendships for life. He was a humble man who didn’t talk about his past accomplishments. I only wish we had more time to talk and we will miss him so much. Rex, RIP 💜🙏
