Rex's obituary
Rex Aten, born on the 18th of October, 1957, passed away peacefully on the 11th of November, 2024. He was a cherished husband, loving father, and a doting grandfather. His kind spirit and gentle heart will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Rhonda Aten, whom he married in 1977, creating a resolute partnership that stood the test of 47 years. His daughter, Tabatha McCafferty (Kenny) and son, Randy Allen (John), were his pride and joy, inheriting Rex's resilience and compassion.
The joy of Rex's life extended to his grandchildren; Jordan (Tasmine) Revell and Tia Bumgarner (Dylan) and 3 Great Grandchildren. Their cherished memories of their grandfather will continue to fill their hearts with love, joy, and strength, even as they navigate through this profound loss. His enduring love for his family was, without a doubt, the hallmark of his life.
Rex was a familiar face at Dockers Tavern in Spaulding, IL, where he found a second family among the friends he cherished. His favorite spot, Dockers Tavern, was always a welcoming place for stories, laughs, and shared sorrows, just like it was for Rex himself. The connections he built there were a testament to his affability and genuine nature.
While we mourn the loss of Rex, we also celebrate the life he led, full of kindness and warmth, and his selfless dedication to his family and friends. He will forever be remembered in the hearts of many, leaving behind a legacy marked by love, friendship, and community spirit.
Rest in peace, Rex Aten. Your memory lives on.
