Pastor Bill's obituary
Born July 12, 1933 in Youngstown Ohio to the late Frank J. and Mildred Bennett McCabe and lived with his grandparents William and Mildred Bennett. He attended and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and received a scholarship to Youngstown State University. He was a starting member of the varsity football team and member of Kappa Sigma Kappa fraternity and choir. In 1956 he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. He furthered his education at Wittenberg University, Hamma School of Theology, where he received his Masters of Divinity and in 1959 became an Ordained Lutheran minister in the Ohio
Synod. He received his Doctorate of Divinity in 1998.
Reverend McCabe preached the
word of the Gospel in Ohio, Florida and North Carolina. His Lutheran parishes
included Emmanuel and St. Jacobs in Hartville OH, St. Thomas in Streetsboro OH, Messiah in Toledo OH, Emmanuel in New Philadelphia OH, St. Marks
Dunedin FL, St. Michael Wellington FL,
Our Savior Nokomis FL, St. Paul McClure OH, Holy Trinity Niles OH, Trinity Hickory NC. He was an active minister for 61 years and will be greatly missed by all he served.
He was an avid sports enthusiast. He loved fishing, his beloved Boston Red Soxs and Ohio State Buckeyes.
He leaves to cherish his memory a brother, Charles (Sandra) McCabe of Youngstown Ohio, wife Karen McCabe of FL, former wife Jeanne Cianciola Marsden of Florida, three daughters, Diana (James) Lenox of North Carolina, Cynthia (Vincent) Bosco of New York, and Linda (Andrija) Silich of New York, six grandchildren Lenny and Christopher Lenox, Jacob Parise, Erica (Anthony) Daunt, Matthew and Patrick Silich, one great grandchild Mila Daunt and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Reverend McCabe was preceded in death by his brother James McCabe, and his sister Dolores Adler.
Internment in Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown, will follow a Celebration of Life, where Reverend McCabe will be laid to rest near his beloved mother.
Memorial contributions can be made in Reverend McCabe's name to St Jude Children’s Hospital.
