Resurreccion's obituary
In Loving Memory of Resurreccion “Resu” Rodriguez
April 8, 1952 – November 6, 2025
With deep love and heavy hearts, we celebrate the life of Resurreccion Rodriguez, affectionately known as Resu, Mamacita, Nana, and Abuela, who passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, at the age of 73.
Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Resu made her home and her heart in West Haven, Connecticut, where she built a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to her family and friends. Known for her radiant smile, generous heart, and the way she could light up any room she entered, Resu had a rare gift for making everyone feel seen, valued, and loved. She was strong and resilient, yet endlessly nurturing — the kind of woman who showed up for others, no matter what.
Resu spent over 20 years with the same employer (B&M homemaking and Companion services), a testament to her dedication and work ethic. But her greatest joy was her family. She adored spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were truly the light of her life.
She loved cooking big meals, making her famous arepas and arroz con leche, celebrating birthdays and holidays, feeding everyone, sneaking snacks, cracking jokes, making people laugh, crocheting, cleaning, and going out to eat. Her kitchen was the heart of every celebration — full of delicious food, laughter, and love. One of her most cherished traditions was preparing a special meal for every family member’s birthday, a reflection of her selfless and generous spirit.
Resu is survived by her beloved children Allison Rodriguez, Louis Lopez, Ruby Rodriguez, Marlene Cuero, Claudia Vazquez, Gabriela Miliano, Gina Miliano, and Maria Miliano; her cherished grandchildren Lizeth Flores, Amara Williams, Azaliya Lopez, Jazzaliya Lopez, Catalea Lopez, Shanae Cuero, Julian Almazan, and Justin Rangel; and her adored great-grandchildren Victor Rodriguez Jr., Jadisha Rodriguez, Ezekiel Johnson, and Kyrie Johnson. She is also survived by her loving sons-in-law Rashon Williams and Jason Vazquez, and daughter-in-law Stephanie Bisson.
To know Resu was to know unconditional love. She treated everyone as family — with open arms, a warm plate, and a heart full of compassion. Her presence was a blessing, her laughter contagious, and her love everlasting.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at The Salvation Army Church 450 George St, New Haven, CT 06511, where friends and family are invited to share memories, stories, and love in her honor.
Though she has left our sight, her love will forever remain in our hearts.
