Renee's obituary

Renee Morris (Vigneau) was born and adopted in Montreal. She fought an incredibly courageous and fierce second battle with cancer, and died on January 6th 2025 with her daughters at her side. She joined her loving husband Norman in the Summerlands just 10 days before the first anniversary of his death.

Her spirit and their memory live on in their daughters, Tiffany, Tanya, Angella and Shantel and their deeply treasured grandchildren Diana, Mikail, Dominic, Emily, Dreden and Flora. She is predeceased by her beloved parents, Jean and Clair Vigneau (Nee Menard) of Longueuil, Quebec.

She was a talented and expressive artist, dancer and humanitarian. She miraculously survived a rock climbing accident in her early teens, spending multiple minutes with no heartbeat during surgery before they were able to revive her. This left her with vision in one eye and unquenchable thirst to experience everything she could. Every adventure she could share with her husband or daughters, every book she could read, and every song she could sing and dance to was done with all of her soul.

She hitchhiked across Canada with her husband while pregnant with their first daughter, leaving Montreal and stopping in British Columbia, a province that was dearly held her heart for the rest of her life. They did not settle long, moving through BC, Manitoba, Ontario and completing their family along the way through the provinces before settling in Muskoka.

She deeply believed in the goodness of humanity and despite having very hard struggles in her life that would be insurmountable to many, she reached out a hand to anyone who might be in need of her support or a kind ear.

She had immense courage and strength of will in facing her first cancer diagnosis, and deeply drew on the support of the community of women she was battling alongside. She beat very slim odds against triple negative breast cancer, and participated in medical studies to help other women facing the same devastating diagnosis.

She was a firm believer in organ donation, and has given the ultimate gift of life and and research through Trillium Gift Of Life.

A celebration of life will be held on the summer solstice, and prayers to her patron goddess Morrigan will be given in honour of her Wiccan beliefs.
