Renee's obituary
Rebecca Renee Moore was born on May 3rd, 1949 to Annette and Jacob Nachmias in The Bronx, New York. She passed away peacefully on May 15th, 2024, in Vacaville, California, at the age of 75, surrounded by loved ones.
Anyone that knew her knew she was a woman of unwavering determination, who faced life's challenges head-on with a fierce spirit that refused to yield. She shared many chapters of her life with the love of her life, Patrick William Moore, whose memory she cherished long after his passing in 2014. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion through her children: Amy Austin Moore Van Heerde, David Jacob Moore, and Shannon Patrice Moore Quinn, and their spouses whom she loved as her own, Trevor Quinn and Jennifer Moore. Her grandchildren Christopher Paul, Madelyn Grace, and Owen Patrick Van Heerde, along with Skye Alexandria, Jacob Patrick, and Dexter Jackson Moore, were the lights of her life. They are joined in mourning by her beautiful sister Michelle Molly Nachmias, as well as her cherished lifelong friends and family, all across the country, who always held a monumental place in her heart.
Renee loved being active and spending as much time outdoors as possible, often accompanied by her loyal companion Mojo. She would often be spotted around town, rain or shine, walking her dog in her favorite blue straw cowboy hat and camouflage jacket.
She had a deep affection for her family, relishing in moments spent with her grandchildren. Renee was characterized by her sharp intellect, independence, and boundless compassion for others. She devoted herself to causes close to her heart, including the St. Labre Indian School and the Humane Society and was deeply engaged in political activism.
A true New Yorker at heart, Renee's resilience and determination shone through in her battles with health challenges in recent years. Her tenacity and fighting spirit inspired all who knew her, leaving an enduring impact on those she encountered.
We find solace in believing that when she passed, she was embraced by her father, whom she hadn’t seen since his death when she was just 16, as well as her mother, who Renee cared for until her final years. We hold dear the belief that she will forever be treasured as a remarkable grandmother, mother, sister, and friend as her spirit lives on through her children and grandchildren.
