Renee Lucas was a Devoted Wife, a Loyal Friend, a Carefree Daughter, and a Loving Mother...my mother. But those are just an inch of words to describe a mile long woman. She grew up in an abusive, but lavish home with her 2 (still living) parents. Her strength & love for her first husband (my father) willed her to push through & successfully complete college and then marriage. My parents love for each other was pure and full hearted, and he was not just hers but my best friend. His jokes would cause my mother to laugh so loud it could fill amphitheater, but my father was sick. So sick that he committed suicide. I was left without my best friend and my mom was left a widower. But few years later she fell inlove again with, whom I believe to be, her true soulmate. My mom & stepfather shared a bond like something out of a fairytale. They had their hardships, but tackled them together hand in hand and always came out the other side stronger then ever, but he too would become sick. Then 3yr ago, on Thanksgiving, my mother awoke to have found that my stepfather died in his sleep. That heartbreak was so painful that for her that it pushed her into some deep dark places and nearly killed her. But sometimes with death comes new life and that life was my daughter, her first grandchild, Faith. The birth of my daughter gave my mom new strength & her love for her gave her meaning to live again, but to live a better & more meaningful life. Unfortunately, the health of her heart didn’t share the same strength for living as she did. She was misinformed about her heart and was told it was blood pressure and was given medication, but my mother was sufferinf from an enlarged heart. Then just after 2yr of enjoying her bettered life & being a grandmother, she passed away. I’d like to say her death was painless, but it happened so suddenly that she died all alone, face down, in her bedroom. My mother was a kind, sincere, loving, & loyal woman and she deserved much better. And that is why I am setting up this fundraiser.
Loosing my mother has left me & my sister all alone. As a single working mother of 1 & one on the way, my sister who’s only 20yr& a full time student, and my grandparents who are 80+, no savings,— & loving off of social security we just can’t afford a proper & deserving service for her.
The money will pay for a Celebratory Memorial Service for my mother and, afterwards, a lighted lantern ceremony where we write prayers and good memories of my mom on a lantern, light it, and let it go into the night sky to send them all up to her. Contribute
