Jerry's obituary

Ocean Pines, MD. Rembert Jerome Lewis III (“Jerry”), passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on June 26, 2025, after a long heroic battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife Caroline, daughter Hannah {Matthew}, son Alex, mother Pat, mother-in-law Gisela, sister Michaele {Carl}, brother Scott {Luz}, brother-in-law Ronnie {Claire}, sister-in-law Catherine, nieces Chelsea {Nick}, Nicole {Ed}, and Kristin {John}, great nieces Harbor and Scarlet, and great nephews Bear and Scott–all whom will never forget their beloved Jerry.

Jerry was born on April 18th, 1962, to Rembert Jerome Lewis II (Jerry) and Patricia S. Lewis in Easton, MD. Jerry spent most of his life in Maryland but also spent several years living abroad. As a teen, Jerry lived in the Middle East in Oman with his family while working at a local newspaper. It was during that time in Oman that Jerry met the love of his life, Caroline, and after that, became inseparable. Jerry went on to graduate from Salisbury University, and after marrying Caroline, they started their first married overseas adventure. They moved to the Cayman Islands where they both worked and enjoyed island life.  After moving back to Maryland, they had their daughter Hannah, and soon after embarked on their next adventure to Casablanca, Morocco where they lived several years and where their son Alex was born.

Jerry was a cherished husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He touched the lives of everyone he met with his kindness, positivity, sense of humor, concern for others, and ability to make everyone around him feel comfortable. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. Jerry had such an impact on others that his personality immediately lit up the room and laughter always followed soon after. Jerry was an avid fisherman and enjoyed all things ocean and beach related. Waterskiing, boating, snorkeling and days at the beach were just a few of his favorite things to do. He loved traveling the world, exploring new cultures and cuisines, cooking, and spending time with family and his dear friends.  Although Jerry is gone, he will never be forgotten, and he will live in all of our hearts forever.

There will be a private memorial service/celebration of life.
