Reginald's obituary

Reginald Kral, lovingly known as “Jednatel,” passed away with family by his side in Toronto, Ontario, on March 18, 2026, at the age of 79.

Reg was born on February 28, 1947, in Usti nad Labem, Czechoslovakia, to his parents, Reginald and Irene Kral. He later made Canada his home, where he built a life centered on family, friendship, and the passions he cherished.

Reg was the devoted husband of 45 years to his beloved wife, Ema. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Nicole; his stepdaughter, Jenny, and her husband, Jim; his five cherished grandchildren, Ema, Emily, Thomas, Brooklyn, and Avery; as well as extended family members, Gary, Devon, Layla, and Lincoln.

Reg will be remembered as a kind, gentle, and spirited man with a deep love for music. He played guitar and sang in a bluegrass band alongside friends, often performing Monday nights at the Brunswick House, where members of the Czechoslovakian community gathered to connect and celebrate their shared heritage.

He had a lifelong love of the outdoors, spending many treasured years camping and cottaging with family and friends at Lake Nipissing and Swiss Meadows in Collingwood.

Reginald’s passion for motorcycles, cars, F1, and miniature car building began in his youth and remained with him throughout his life. He shared this enthusiasm with his family and even participated in motorcycle racing events at the Daytona Beach racetrack and Mosport. His love of riding also led to a memorable experience as a motorcycle stunt double in the 1976 film The Italian Machine, directed by David Cronenberg.

An avid reader, Reg was especially interested in history, with a focus on the First and Second World Wars, and was always eager to discuss the past and politics.

Reg leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter and fond memories. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anselm’s Parish, 1 MacNaughton Rd., on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Diabetes Canada.
