Regina's obituary
Regina was born on January 9, 1958 to Ronald J. and Catherine R. Barkey in Grove City, PA. She graduated from New Wilmington Area High School in 1976.
Regina married her first husband, Christopher L. Wright, at the age of 20. She gave birth to two daughters, Tiffany Lynn, 40, and Alicia Grace, 37. Regina worked as a teller at First National Bank of Slippery Rock, and then went on to work as an administrative assistant at Mercer Forge for 5 years.
In 2000, Regina married Gary M. Fisher at their property in Austintown, Ohio. In their 20 years together, they embarked upon many adventures, including selling their house and moving to a houseboat in Kentucky in 2006. In 2014, they returned to the area in order to be closer to children and grandchildren.
In 2019, Regina was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She and Gary moved to Volant, PA, to Regina's childhood home, in order to be close to family. Regina faced her diagnosis with strength, dignity, and grace, and relied on her faith to see her through. She was truly blessed to have Gary by her side through her sickness, ensuring her every comfort and working tirelessly to remodel their home so that she could have somewhere beautiful and serene in which to recover from her treatments.
During the periods when she felt well, Regina and Gary enjoyed traveling, boating, and camping with family and friends, particularly her lifelong friend Suzanne Kildoo and her husband Ron.
After her re-diagnosis in 2020, Regina retired from Boak and Sons in Austintown, Ohio, where she had worked as an administrative assistant for many years.
Regina was a beautiful soul who impacted many lives in her short time on this earth. Her faith sustained her through her battle with cancer, and her dignity and lack of fear in her last days were an inspiration to us all. She was truly at peace and ready to meet her Savior. She was blessed to be able to be at home, where her many friends and family were able to visit in her last days.
Regina is survived by her husband, Gary, her daughters, Tiffany and Alicia, her stepchildren Jody (Alan) Barnes and Gregary (Linda) Fisher, her grandchildren, Gage, Cannon, and Callen, and her step grandchildren Melanie, Madison, Amanda, and Tyler. She is also survived by her siblings, Ronald (Catherine) Barkey, Regis (Wilma) Barkey, Rosemary (Donald) Kusky, Raymond (Colleen) Barkey, and Roberta (Samuel) Haag, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Regina is predeceased by her father, Ronald Barkey, and her mother, Catherine Barkey.
A celebration of life for Regina will be held when the flowers bloom in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition at ovarian.org.
