Happy Birthday cousin. I love you

Rebecca was a fighter and I know she worked hard doing battle against her disease. I will always remember her sweet smile. I’m glad she was never alone in her suffering. God was with her. That means so much to all of us who knows what it’s like to go through hard and painful times. We don’t always understand why, but somehow just the knowing of His constant presence brings the comfort we all need. The memory of Rebecca’s strong determination will never be forgotten.

Rebecca was a wonderful person. She was always strong for her kids and those around her. I was privileged to be a friend when she needed one. RIP Becks.

May our beautiful girl rest in peace with God and her sister Leah. She truly is the strongest person I have ever known. I had the honor and privilege of being with Rebecca when she passed. She went through so much, she was a fighter to the very end, but for her final hours she slept and myself and several other friends (Andre, Josh, and Andy) and her service dog Emby were around her bedside. We read the Bible to her and prayed with her, we annointed her forehead and wrists with holy water that her friend Josh brought for her, we talked to her and her friend Andy told her goofy jokes that he knew she would love, we held her hand and hugged her and kissed her hand and forehead and let her know how much she was loved and cared for. I sprayed perfume all around her so that she would smell something sweet and we filled her room with flowers and put flowers in her hair. We toasted her with ginger ale (her favorite) and put some on her tongue so that she would taste it as well even as she slept. Then we fell asleep all around her around 5am. Her friend Andre held her hand as his chair was closest to her as we all slept. I opened my eyes at 715am as the nurse came in and I knew as she checked her pulse and from her expression that Rebecca had passed. She told us that she had passed around an hour earlier as we all slept around her. So I realized that she had held on all night and waited until the quiet hour of dawn and crossed over to be with God and her sister Leah at sunrise. And that was such a beautiful thing.
