Rebecca Myers Reid , 69, passed away on Tuesday October 1st, 2019 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Ia. after a brief but heroic fight against cancer. Rebecca grew up in Kalona ,Iowa and lived the majority of her life in Cedar Rapids. Survivors include husband Fred Reid of Cedar Rapids, daughters, Mickelle (Doug) Craigmile of Kalona, , Jeanelle (Dre) Myers of Lancaster Ca. , Raelle Daye of Louisville KY. , and Leelle Clark of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, Nicholas, Chelsea, Racquelle, Shayla, Tanaya, Breanna, Demri, and Asia. Also surviving are numerous brothers and sisters, Rick (Connie) Berg of Iowa City, Jim (Bev) Berg of Kalona, Randy (Sandy) Berg of Richmond, Jacque (Steve ) Wertz of Kalona, Vicky Berg of North Liberty. Preceeding her in death are her father, Urban Nicholas Berg, her mother Gertrude Mary Berg (ne Bentler) and two brothers John Berg and Tom Berg.
Rebecca loved life. She enjoyed nature and nature shows, ancient Egypt, cooking, eating out at Red Lobster and Olive Garden. She was undyingly devoted to her family and supported them with all she had in her life. She loved to pay attention to the less needy and gave the shirt off her back if she could. She touched everyone's lives from the person with Down's Syndrome delivering Meals on Wheels to the doctor's helping care for her at the various hospitals and clinics. Her memory will live on in her family and neighbor's and friends as someone with the biggest heart, who loved God, served people, was outspoken about her feelings and her beliefs, was loyal to the people in her life. She spoke with her children everyday to see how their lives were going. She was so interested in the littlest details of all they were involved in and her grandchildren's lives. She will be remembered forever.
