Beneath the Carolina sky, a star was born,
Rebecca Lobach, with dreams to adorn.
From Durham’s heart, her spirit took flight,
A warrior’s soul, ablaze with light.
Through UNC’s halls, she carved her way,
ROTC’s pride, top cadets’ array.
With biology’s grace and a pilot’s command,
She held the Black Hawk in her steady hand.
Over Potomac’s gleam, she soared so high,
Four hundred hours, her wings kissed the sky.
A captain’s rank, twice a leader bold,
Her story in courage and kindness told.
At the White House, she stood, a beacon of grace,
Social aide to presidents, with strength in her face.
Medals of honor, freedom’s embrace,
She served with a heart none could replace.
A SHARP advocate, her compassion profound,
Healing the broken, her purpose was found.
A doctor’s dream, to mend and to care,
Her future was boundless, her spirit so rare.
But January’s night stole breath from the air,
A collision of fates, too cruel, unfair.
The Black Hawk fell, with her at its helm,
Yet her legacy shines, an eternal realm.
Brilliant, fearless, a friend to all,
Her laughter, her love, still echo, still call.
In the river’s embrace, her name will not fade,
Captain Rebecca, forever a blade. For those she never met , her story’s a flame,
A stranger’s deep knowing, we honor her name.
In skies everlasting, she flies with the free,
Rebecca Lobach, our heart’s memory.
