Becky's obituary
Sunrise-June 26th,1940- Sunset-February 9th, 2026
On June 26th, 1940, Rebecca Levon Davidson made her debut, the Earth trembled on her arrival! Born to Emanuel and Elizabeth Davidson. She was a child of her mother’s old age, who gave birth to her when she was 57 years old. She was born with a rare blood disease; poor health plagued her throughout her life. Her nick named was, “Becky”. Being the youngest of 11 children wasn’t always easy, the last to use bath water, inheriting the oldest hand-me-down clothes, and teased for having an oblong face. “Long head”, her sibling would chide. The adversity forged a rebel spirit which would serve her well by fighting to overcome many adversities in life including, serious health problems, racism, abuse, divorce and everything else life would throw at her. However, the same spirit also caused rebellion against others and suffering in her relationships. She was a maverick, that didn’t feel the need to “fit in” to society, content being true to her authentic self. Her family was the first on the block to own a television. She grew up as a TV kid who was influenced by programing and enamored by Hollywood movie stars. She attended East High School. When she was fourteen years old, she ran away from home and married a young man in the Airforce named Farries (Ras) Gaston II, they were married about two years. She gave birth to her first-born child, a son named Farries Gaston III. They briefly lived in Delano, California for about two years, then divorced. A couple of years later she met an older gentleman, twenty years her senior from Mississippi, named Nathaniel (Jack) L. Jackson. They had two children, Vaness Lavonne and Judah (Tuesday) Jackson. Becky found a kindred spirit in Jack, they both love riding motorcycles and were members of a motorcycle club called The Firebirds. Becky was a good rider, performing stunts and racing; Sports Illustrated wanted to feature her in the magazine! Being her original self, she wore red lipstick, dressed in Fredrics of Hollywood clothes and had two-inch fingernails! Their marriage lasted 18 years until they divorced.
In the early 70’s, mom had her closest encounter with death. Her blood disorder caused extreme hemorrhaging. She was admitted to the hospital where they had to pump 22 pints of blood in her to save her life!
As a single mom, she moved to Denver, Colorado to stay with her sister Betty English and son Ohmar English. Although most of her early life she was a housewife, she was employed in the workforce for several years before being injured and disabled for work. The highlight of her workforce career was working as an In-flight Commissary Agent for Continental Airlines for three years until the company went bankrupt. She was the “Proud” Bird for Continental, who beamed every time she told someone, “I work for Continental Airlines”! Sadly, the company went bankrupt and she retired due to her disability. She relocated to the Seattle, Washington area where her son and family resided to live until her death.
