Rebecca's obituary

With profound sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of Rebecca “Becky” Brown on November 19, 2025. Born on February 17, 1959, Rebecca graced the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her with her humility, honesty, adventurous spirit, and quiet strength.

Rebecca is survived by her son, Joshua A. Brown; her daughter-in-law, Chelsey N. Brown; and her beloved grandson, Oliver H. Brown. She is also survived by her devoted siblings—Christina Cabiran, Coral Morel, and Alyson McNair (Georgianna). She is further survived by her extended family—sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and Finnegan her pup, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She was predeceased by her parents, Janet L. and Dan M. Jones, and by her adored husband, Matthew H. Brown.

Rebecca lived a full and vibrant life, overflowing with positivity and vigor. She was a lover of music, especially the artistry of James Taylor, Neil Young, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and the unforgettable performances of Doreen Ketchens. She cheered passionately for the New Orleans Saints and enjoyed the friendly challenge of a good Backgammon match.

She treasured time with her family—traveling, savoring her daily new pictures of Oliver, catching her favorite Saturday TV show, and strolling through her favorite local spots, especially the streets of the French Quarter. She stayed active and grounded through yoga, long walks, and the peace she found at the beach, one of her most cherished vacation places. Rebecca also held a special love for the color purple, a beautiful reflection of her gentle, regal, and modest presence.

Her legacy—marked by positivity, resilience, and deep love for her family—will be fondly remembered and forever carried forward. Her wisdom and her example of strength will continue to inspire all who knew her. Among her proudest accomplishments was becoming “BB,” the doting and devoted grandmother she was meant to be.

Rebecca will be profoundly missed by countless family members, friends, past colleagues, and acquaintances who share the sorrow of losing such an extraordinary soul.

A memorial service in her honor will be held on November 29, 2025, visitation 10:30-11:30 am with Mass to follow at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in the Chapel 6425 West Metairie Ave | Metairie, LA 70003. All who loved her are warmly invited to join us in this celebration of her remarkable life.

Remember, Purple was her favorite color!!!💜
