Rebecca's obituary
Rebecca Peak Hrnack, born March 22, 1945, lost her battle with Lewy Body Dementia on January 24, 2026, at age 80 in Richardson Texas.
Becky was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Ira H. Peak Sr. and Mattie Lou (Oxford) Peak. Her father, Ira, was a Baptist Pastor and mother, Mattie, was the organist at her husband’s churches. Ira served several churches through his ministry and his family lived in the cities where those churches were located including Ardmore, Oklahoma, Garland, Texas, Shreveport, Louisiana, St. Louis, Missouri, and Mobile, Alabama
Becky attended school in all the cities that her father served as Pastor. Upon graduation from high school in 1963 she attended Louisiana Christian University (formerly Louisiana College) in Pineville, Louisiana and Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. She married her first husband, John Walker, in 1967, who attended the church which was served by her father. They moved to Baton Rouge then New Orleans where they both worked in the fashion industry for Neiman Marcus. She was married to John for 22 years when he tragically passed away in 1990. Becky settled in Richardson, Texas where she simultaneously held several jobs while raising her three children as a single mom. She attended Heights Baptist Church and later Prestonwood Baptist church where she was deeply involved in the singles ministry and lead many inner-city mission trips to provide food and clothing for the homeless population in downtown Dallas. In March 1993 she met Dan while working as an administrative assistant at EDS Corporation in Plano. They were married on December 22, 1995.
Becky has always been known as a compassionate and loving person with a giving heart and personality. The stories exemplifying this are legend. More than once, she would stop the car in a driving rainstorm and take her only umbrella to an obviously homeless person in need while ignoring the traffic surrounding her.
Becky is survived by her husband of 30 years, Dan Hrnack, her brother James Peak and wife Brenda of Cary, North Carolina, her children Brandon Walker, Barret Walker and Sibyl Ann Gelman, her grandchildren Mattie Gelman and Dylan Friedman, her former in-laws Clay and Debbie Walker and their family of Metairie, Louisiana, Becky was predeceased by her father Ira H. Peak Sr. and mother Mattie Lou (Oxford) Peak and her older brother Ira H. Peak Jr. and her former mother-in-law Kathryn Walker.
Becky faced a nearly four-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association (donate@curealz.org) to support the endless battle to find a cure for this devastating disease.
