Rebecca's obituary
The meaning of her name in the Hebrew means: "to tie or bind together."
To me.
To her family.
To you ... she meant the whole world.
And that is why you are here. Reading these words.
Because her radiant, beautiful and undeniable light bound us all together. So ... we are in this together. We are grieving, hurting, mourning and also celebrating her amazing life ... together. Bound by Beka's love.
Rebecca Ann Garcia, more affectionately known as "Beka," was born on July 29th, 1983, to Ralph Garcia JR and Christine Rose Garcia in the city of South El Monte, California. Beka was the middle child and had two brothers. Older brother, Ralph and younger brother Anthony. Beka was an Auntie to three beautiful girls, Melah, Isla and Bella and sister -in- law to Lucy Garcia.
Beka lived most of her life in Southern California and moved to New York in 2005 and again in 2010 where she would spend the next 9 years on and off, before returning home to California in June of 2019.
Beka left to New York with only faith, a dream and a lot of ambition. They say, "if you can make it in NY you can make it anywhere." Well, Beka could make it anywhere.
Her grit, determination, courage and work ethic were second to none. She impacted lives where ever she went.
We will miss her terribly.
Whether you are are on the west coast or the east coast, or wherever her adventurous spirit took her, you were touched by her life in one way or another.
You were blessed by her presence.
Your stomach probably roared with laughter at some point, probably many points because Beka laughed hard and loved harder. Your eyes welled up with tears with her at other moments as she wore her heart on her sleeve for all to see.
More genuine than most.
You probably raised a glass or two in a celebratory toast.
But you were in her presence.
Strong.
Glorious.
Beautiful.
Radiant presence.
So now we are bonded. And we will go through this together. Our lives will never be the same ... and. that. is. ok.
One of our brightest stars no longer shines in this life. But by faith we believe she is shining even brighter in the next.
We hope this site will serve as a place where Beka can be fondly remembered, where memories, pictures and experiences can be shared with all of us who loved her.
Many have contacted the family with the desire to help or contribute in any way. On this page you will also find a donation option if you feel so moved to donate in lieu of flowers to help cover some expenses. May God bless us all. All of us who are bonded forever by Beka's love.
John 16:33 - "I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. But take heart. I have overcome the world."
Rest in paradise lil sis.
Until I hold you again.
Forever yours.
