Rebecca (Becky) deTuscan, 74, of Maggie Valley, NC, passed away on August 18, 2021 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Becky was born on May 17, 1947 to Elizabeth (Betty) and Paul Barr in Aliquippa, PA. After graduating from Aliquippa High in 1965, she went on to study Education at Florida Atlantic University.

After graduation, she began her career as a Primary Education Specialist for Broward County Schools for 30 years. 

In 1967, she met Gene deTuscan, and they wed in 1970, going on to adopt one beautiful child, Eric deTuscan in 1986.

When Becky  adopted Eric, she decided to dedicate her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. Becky was the light of her family and friend's lives, always providing joy and happiness to anyone she met. Whether that was Gene during the beginning of their careers and 50 wonderful years of marriage or lifting Eric up through her heartfelt morning coffee conversations, she made it her mission to improve the lives of others.

Becky was a passionate about her family and her fearless love of the great outdoors.  When she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found in her Fairytale Forest in the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains, embracing nature's beauty. She will be greatly missed.

Becky was predeceased by parents Betty and Paul Barr. She is survived by husband Gene and son Eric deTuscan.

The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to 1 Club Crest Drive, Maggie Valley, NC 28751. There will be a celebration of life announced within the coming week.
