Background
- National Clearinghouse on Abuse in Later Life's (NCALL) mission is to eliminate abuse in later life by challenging beliefs, policies, practices and systems that allow abuse to occur and continue and to improve safety, services and support to victims through advocacy and education.
Nursing homes/ skilled nursing needs to be shut down and offered an alternative for of care . Our elders and even people who aren’t elders yet and just have to be there for recovery , and the protocols in place for these facilities is completely FLAWED !
My aunt was killed at the hands of The Harrison at Heritage in Fort Worth , Texas . Nursing homes/skilled nursing facilities said they would turn my aunt ever 2 hours . We later found out they do not bother with turning as their air up beds replaced that 2 years ago . When we moved her into the second nursing home/skilled nursing facility , Keller oaks in Keller Texas , they decided to start giving her pain medicine that she is allergic to . And after moving her to another new nursing home/skilled , North Pointe in Watauga, Texas , they never changed or cared for her wounds correctly and she developed an infection that had gotten all the way to her bone which was irreversible.
