On Sunday July 25, 2021 in his home in Aiken, S.C. Raymond Albert Small Young also known as “Big Bub” or “Bubba” or “Ray” was called home with his wife Jennifer States Young original resident of Belford, NJ by his side. Ray was born on January 31, 1970 in New Brunswick, NJ to the late parents Thelma Pope, Raymond Small, and later raised by stepfather the late Author Carter. Ray was a graduate of Asbury Park, HS 1988 and was the starting forward on the famous APHS 1987 State Championship Basketball Team. He then attended Montclaire State University and became a master salesman. Raymond’s life will most be known for his ability make all the people around him laugh and how motivated he was to provide for his family and loved ones. Ray was also a huge fan of the Pittsburg Steelers “Here We Go.” Raymond is survived by his eight children; Tilah Young, Brianna Young, only son Xavier Young, and Jordan Young and their mother Michele Bryant all of Asbury Park, NJ. Youngest daughters Savanna Young and Paitynlee Young of Aiken, SC and adopted daughters Kalyan States and Bryann States. Ray loved all of his children and always expressed to his children to be the best at their journeys no matter what it was. Until we meet again Ray also survives loved family members sisters Ronda Johnson Freehold, NJ and Jerry Young, Somerset, NJ; aunt Amelia Florentine, Aiken, SC; parents-in-law Harriet States, Somerset, NJ and Kenneth (Cathy) States, Harrah, OK. The family will be hosting an intimate vigil on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at the Asbury Park Beach and will begin promptly at 6:30pm.
