Raymond's obituary

Raymond D. Parkis
May 2, 1939 – February 4, 2026

Raymond Parkis, 86, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, surrounded by family who loved him deeply. Born on May 2, 1939, Ray lived a life centered around his family and the simple things that brought him joy.

Ray spent 63 years married to his best friend and the love of his life, Lee. Their relationship was something to be admired. They truly enjoyed one another, and anyone who knew them could see the bond they shared.

Ray had a natural talent for working with his hands and was an accomplished woodworker. He had a way of figuring things out, whether it meant building something from scratch or repairing something others had given up on. Many of the things he built and fixed are still part of his family’s everyday lives, lasting reminders of his skill and generosity.

He loved being on the water, fishing and boating, and found just as much enjoyment reading and playing games on his computer.

Nothing meant more to Ray than his family, and he took great pride in being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Lee; his parents, George and Margaret Parkis; his brothers Harold Parkis (Patricia) and George Parkis (Nancy); and his sisters Doloris Shaughnessy (Bill), Jerry Johnson (Norbert), and Judy Argus (Joe), along with many sisters and brothers in law.

He is survived by his four children: David Parkis; Lynda Griffin (Dan); Carol Austin (Ron); and Shari Parkis; along with 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Marion Hayes (Robert), Leona Crego (Richard), and Rosie Paro; many nieces and nephews; sisters and brothers in-law; and his beloved dog, Lexi, who he adored and rarely left his side.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 23rd. Location pending.
