Raymond's obituary

After a long and wonderful life, at the age of 87 Raymond C. McBride passed away in the comfort of his own home in Sacramento, California due to heart failure. Ray was born December 31, 1931 in Oklahoma City to Joseph and Virginia McBride. In the mid to late fifties Ray attended the University of Arizona, Phoenix, where he received his degree in education followed by a teaching credential. The University of Arizona also awarded Ray with an honorary doctorate degree in speech and oral reading for his dedication to extra-curricular activities helping and entertaining fellow students. Ray then went on to teach first grade in Marysville, California briefly before becoming a probation officer for Sutter County in Yuba City, California. Ray loved sports and worked part-time as an umpire for semi-pro baseball as well as refereeing basketball, including one memorable night when he played the comic roll of referee for The Harlem Globetrotters. Later in life, Ray became a real estate broker before retiring in the Sacramento area. Ray was highly intelligent and was granted a membership into the Mensa Society by scoring 162 on a standard IQ test. He was later presented with the Mensa "Life Member" Award for his years of steady dedication and service. Ray will be greatly missed by his friends and surviving family members, Wife Kim, Brother Marvin, Sons Steve, John and Matt, plus 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
