Raymond "Ray"'s obituary

Raymond “Ray” Charles Huettner, age 74, died Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Gilchrist Hospice in Baltimore, Maryland following a long battle with cancer.

Ray was born in Baltimore, Maryland and was the only son to the late Walter and Ethelee (Westerlund) Huettner. He was predeceased by his first wife Patricia (Kollman) Belt and his second wife, Leslie (Billmire) Huettner.

Ray is survived by his sister Jean Louderback (Kurt Louderback); his four children; Jeffery Belt (Christine Treptow) (the late Kathy Belt); Noah Huettner; Chesna Gore (Shawn Gore); Luke McComas; his five grandchildren; Nicholle Aylward (Frank Aylward); Sarah Belt; Taylor Gore, Kassidy Gore; Shawn Gore Jr.; one great granddaughter Harper Aylward and countless friends.

Ray was a talented musician, singer, artist and avid fisherman. For decades he rocked the Baltimore music scene as Ray Morgan and was inducted into the Maryland Entertainment Hall of Fame in 2015. When Ray wasn’t singing on stage, he was fishing in Loch Raven, Middle River, Gunpowder or another favorite spot only he knew. He taught his children and grandchildren the art of fishing and never missed a season. His cartoon cards and artwork dress the homes of his friends and family, never, ever, missing a birthday. His thoughtful heart and kind spirit drew you into a conversation you could not get away from. Whether you knew “Ray”, “Weaver”, “Babs”, “Dad”, “Grandpa Ray” or “Ray Morgan”, you knew he was a true soul and character of many hats.

A celebration of Ray and his life will be held on Saturday, August 22nd at 3 pm at the home of Jenny and John Strain, 2211 Wicomico Rd. Essex, Maryland 21221.
