Raymond's obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Raymond Hoffman Jr, fondly known as Ray, a man of Sassy spirit and a heart full of kindness. Born on May 12, 1950, Ray passed on from this life on November 2, 2025.
Ray leaves behind a large, loving family who were the center of his world. He is survived by his devoted wife, Violet Hoffman, his daughter Michelle Hoffman, his sons Raymond Hoffman III, Anthony Aton, and Joshua Aton. He also leaves behind his sisters Peggy Bartholomew, Katherine Shook, and Ara Thomas, and his brothers Carl Hoffman and Barry Hoffman. His love further extended to his cherished grandchildren Kirstein Piscitello, Katelyn Zechman, Lauren Hoffman, Erica Aton, Tyler Hoffman, Ethan Aton, and Elie Aton. He is also survived by his caring brother-in-law, Bill Thomas, and his sisters-in-law, Laura Hoffman and Denise Hoffman. His great granddaughters Emma,Maddie,Ryla .His great grandsons Bryson and Shane. Many nieces and nephews also great nieces and nephew.
In his venerable journey of life, Ray was predeceased by his loving parents, Raymond Turk Hoffman and Althea Hoffman, his dear sister Penny Hoffman, brother-in-law Warren Shook and Vince Nystrand, sisters-in-law Katherine Nystrand and Betty Jennings, and his mother-in-law, Charlotte Bennett.
Anyone who knew Ray could vouch for his laid-back and funny nature. His sweet and kind demeanor made him a favorite among his friends and family. He was a respectful man who believed in not taking life too seriously. His greatest pride and accomplishment were his children and his family. Some of his favorite pastimes included playing quoits, pool, and cards. It was not uncommon to find him at local bars and clubs, enjoying a cold beer and the company of good friends.
Ray was a loyal fan of country music, with a soft spot for TV shows like The Three Stooges and Gunsmoke. His love for Western movies was widely known. When not working or spending quality time with his family, he loved junking scrap metal.
Professionally, Ray was a hard-working man who made significant contributions to several local blouse mills. Later, he enjoyed a well-earned retirement from Majestic. However, it was his role as a family man that he valued the most. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
