Raymond's obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Eugene Hill, who left us on April 19, 2025. Born on February 27, 1938, to the late Woodard H. and Dorothy Sue Hill.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Ray was a master woodworker who lovingly created works of art and was always willing to share his knowledge. He was an active volunteer of the American Red Cross and donated to the Feeding America organization. Going on mission trips for rebuilding damaged areas was near and dear to his heart.

A dear friend stated “Ray was such a great and compassionate person, though he tried to maintain his “tough guy” persona sometimes. We weren’t fooled into thinking he wasn’t the kind and caring person he was. He was near and dear to all of us and that will leave a huge hole."

Ray is survived by his wife of 44 years, Irene Buchanan Hill; son, Brian Hill (Mary Beth); daughter, Wendy Sigler(Roger); mother-in-law, Diane Buchanan; grandchildren, Kaitlin Gibson, Cassara Gibson, Laura Hill, Emily Hill and John Hill; great grandson, Gannon Brown; sisters, Janet Hill and Glenda Hill. Also survived by nephew, Brent Hill, cousins, numerous friends, extended family members and special fur baby, Daliah.

Celebration of life will be on, Saturday, April 26, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Darrell Latham officiating. Burial will be private.
