Rev. Dr. Bessie Duncan's office in Teaneck

When visiting Rev. Dr. Bessie I was sitting in her office when Raymond came in. We began talking about aviation.

We got so involved in the world and planes and airlines, Rev. Bessie had to finally interpret us so we could leave.

Talking aviation with an aviator can be spellbounding.  And that it was for me!

Raymond was a great man.  Another attribute I liked about Raymond was how he supported his wife and the church.

I'm so sorry for the loss of my cousin, Raymond. 50 years ago on this day, April 1st, my grandmother, Ethel Bennett Ray made her transition. My grandma was the sister of Raymond's grandmother. I think about my ancestors often and I miss them terribly. I gained so much knowledge from my family and I hope I can instill this knowledge to my 23 year old grandson.
Remembering Mr. Raymond today on what would have been his 80th birthday. He was such a strong presence in our Unity Church of Christ and a true gentleman. Seeing how he lovingly cared for our Rev. Bessie was an inspiration. He is truly and deeply missed by many. Happy Birthday in Heaven Mr. Raymond!

He was my cousin. He knew me before I was born.
Our condolences to the family. My husband introduced Raymond to fishing in Nebraska and he was immediately hooked. He was a wonderful person and I am sure he will be missed. Those of us in Christ will have an opportunity to see him again. Praying for strength for the family.

Raymond was always in the sanctuary hours before the church service started at Unity Church of Christ. I remember him greeting me with a smile on Sundays. He always had a good story to share that had a moral lesson, however, his sense of humor was exceptional.
Ray was a wonderful personal friend with a great sense of humor. Over the years, we had many heartfelt conversations about our life experiences. He was a good listener and was always quick to offer support and encouragement. We often talked about our shared love of music, sports and travel. I miss him.
Dear Reverend Bessie Duncan and Family

My memories of Raymond were his conversations and teaching (Technical and Religious) during the time we spent in the “Eagles Nest”.
Beverly and I would like to extend to you our heartfelt condolences. May the Lord comfort you and your loved ones.

“The sun, the moon, the wind, the stars, will forever be around, reminding you of the love you shared.”
To Pastor Bessy Duncan, the children and all relatives and friends, you all are and have been in my prayers.
“ Mr Raymond”, as I fondly called him. A Phenomenal Man. I have a thousand and more memories of times spent together. My fondest was his talk with me after my Dad passed on how Father’s make sure that their daughters survive when the Lord calls them home. I cherished every word that was spoken. Our talks went on for years. I always told him that He was one of the Best kept secrets that the World missed out on. His Wisdom, Knowledge in Black History, Life Lessons, the Love for the Lord and the Testimonies he shared, you could sit for hours.
Mr Raymond you are so missed🥲
BUT I believe that the talks you had with me and others can NEVER be compared with the Conversations you had with our Lord Jesus 🙌🏽.
Mr Raymond, you have done what you were called to do.
God let you pass through our lives as an example of strength, hope and compassion that continues on and on and on......... until we meet again, Karen 🌼
My condolences to the Duncan family! Thank you Raymond for sharing your stories and music with me. Especially Jimmy Smith’s “Sermon” album!!!
"One our fondest memories of Raymond was how caring he was. He always had a word of advice and encouragement to help brighten your day. He was one of the wittiest people we ever met. We enjoyed the many stories he relayed about his travels and life works. His presence will truly be missed at Unity Church of Christ. Thank you Raymond for your genuine spirit and for always keeping it real. Rest in eternal peace.”
💜 Much Love, David & Venessa
