Ray's obituary
Raymond (Ray) Chan, 50, of San Bruno, CA passed away suddenly on April 28, 2025. He was born on May 29, 1974 in San Francisco, CA. Ray was a graduate of George Washington High School (Class of ‘92), where he proudly played baseball for the Eagles, San Jose State University (Class of ‘97) majoring in Mechanical Engineering and San Francisco State University (Class of 2004) where he earned his MBA. Ray met Amillia (Milli) Quong in 2003 and married in 2006.
Ray had a successful career as an automation engineer for YieldUp, Genentech, Novartis and Bayer. In 2007, he and Milli moved up to Portland to help set up Genetech’s new facility in the northeast. They moved back to the Bay Area in 2014.
He was a fabulous cook and was famous for his turkey at Thanksgiving. Throughout his life, Ray loved sports. As a lifelong sports fan, Ray was a passionate supporter of the San Francisco Giants, 49ers and Golden State Warriors. His greatest happiness came from being with his family-especially watching his children play baseball and softball. He helped coach numerous Millbrae Girls Softball Association and Millbrae Lions Baseball teams, where he mentored and encouraged young athletes and shared his love for the sport.
He is survived by his wife Milli, son Colin, daughter Emma, parents Sik Chou and Olivia, sister Shirley (Lawrence), nephew, nieces, many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. He will be missed immensely, and leaves behind a legacy of love, family values and dedication to the community.
