Two things my dad used to always say that I always think about.

1) When I'd ask how he was doing, he'd say "If I were doing any better they'd put a tax on it!"

2) He'd end almost every e-mail, greeting card, or phone call with "Make it a great day."  That is a very empowering statement, implying we choose what to do with our lives.  It reminds me of a quote by Abraham Lincoln who said "Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be."  So together these quotes put one in the frame of mind of taking charge of our own happiness.  

Happy Birthday, Daddy Ray.  90 years old - WOW!  I'm sorry you aren't here to see that many candles on your cake!
