In Loving Memory of Ray Gene Wittenburg

Specialist Fourth Class Ray Gene Wittenburg, 74, of North Little Rock, AR, passed away on August 24, 2024. Born on August 10, 1950, in Little Rock, AR, Ray was the beloved son of Mary (Danley) Lewis and David Wittenburg Sr. A cherished member of his family and community, Ray will be deeply missed.

Ray enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 18, serving his country during the Vietnam War. During his service, he received the National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged on February 1, 1976. Following his military service, he worked for Rands for many years.

Ray’s hobbies included collecting model train sets, riding motorcycles, and caring for his beloved cats. He had a passion for music which included playing the drums and attending concerts. Known for his sense of humor, he brought joy and laughter to everyone he met.

He is survived by his brother, James Wittenburg of Florida, and his sister, Nancy Alred of Quitman, AR along with countless friends and extended family who will forever cherish his memory. Ray is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lewis; his father, David Wittenburg Sr.; and his brother, David Wittenburg Jr.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 10 am, October 28, 2024, at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock, AR. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate his life and share memories. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Heber Springs Humane Society.

Ray was a loving brother, a devoted friend, and a truly special person. His legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
