Ray R. Sickinger, 50, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023.
He is survived by his daughter, K. Aleshia Van Buren of Atlanta, GA; his mother, Beverly Merritt Sickinger of Carterville, GA; his maternal half-sisters, Tammy L.S. Melu of Calhoun, GA, her children and grandchildren, Sarah M. Pettiford of Douglasville, GA, and her children; his paternal half-brother, Shane M. Tipton of TX; his maternal aunt and uncle, Linda M.T. Darnell of White, GA, and Elwood Robert Merritt of GA.
He was preceded in death by his father Edmund Miles Sickinger Jr. and natural father Bobby Ray Tipton; Grandparents, Elwood Raymond Merritt, Hazel Norris Merritt, Bud Tipton and Nell Queen Tipton; loving aunt Marguarette Wood Merritt.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of Ray Sickinger, a beloved member of the community of Mabank, Texas. Ray, 50, tragically lost his life in a collision with an 18-wheeler on Friday, October 13, 2023, on FM 85 in Henderson County.
Ray Sickinger, an avid motorcycle enthusiast, was riding his Harley Davidson westbound on FM 85 when the unfortunate incident occurred. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that an eastbound Kenworth truck tractor turned in front of Ray, leading to a collision that claimed his life. The incident transpired around 2:53 p.m.
Despite immediate efforts to save him, Ray Sickinger succumbed to his injuries. He was transported to UT Health Gun Barrel, where medical professionals declared him deceased.
Ray leaves behind a legacy of passion for life, a love for motorcycles, and a warm presence in the hearts of those who knew him. His untimely departure has left a void in the community, and he will be deeply missed by friends, family, and fellow riders alike.
