Ranjana's obituary

We mourn the loss of Ranjana Khanna, a vibrant and charismatic personality, who departed from this world on May 15, 2024. Born in 1948, Ranjana was a woman of varied tastes and tremendous passions.

Ranjana was a connoisseur of flavors and enjoyed a range of Indian delicacies. Her favorite foods included Chaat, Dhokla, and Dahi Bhalla, and she was known to relish Nimbu Paani, which added a spark to her meals. Her love for food was only matched by her appreciation for literature, with "Accounts" being one of the books she cherished most.

Her passion extended to many fields. In music, she found solace in the timeless melodies of The Beatles. The TV show Republic TV was a staple in her daily routine. She treasured the film "Lagaan" and appreciated the artistic genius of Picasso. A fan of sports, she supported the Seattle Mariners and found joy in crosswords as a mental stimulant.

An admirer of the performing arts, opera performances held a special spot in her heart. An avid reader, she often indulged in this activity as a pastime. A fitness enthusiast, she loved running and often recommended it to others. Washington DC was her favorite vacation spot, while locally, she often frequented the Leela Hotel.

Never one to shy away from taking a stand, Ranjana actively advocated for causes she believed in, notably the issue of mosquito control. She was often seen sporting her favorite color, green, and her loud personality was instantly recognizable to those who knew her. Her life motto, "Me first," was an affirmation of self-love and inspired many.

Among her numerous accomplishments, she was immensely proud of her large fixed deposits, a testament to her financial acumen. This, she believed, was her lasting legacy. Her absence will be deeply felt, especially by the beggars whom she regularly assisted.

May her soul find eternal peace and may her memory continue to inspire those she left behind. Rest In Peace, Ranjana Khanna.
