Randy's obituary
Randy Dell Poplin February 14, 1962 – August 9, 2025
Randy Dell Poplin, 63, of Albemarle, North Carolina, passed away on August 9, 2025, at 4:37 p.m. Born on February 14, 1962, Randy brought warmth, kindness, and an open heart to everyone who knew him.
He was the son of the late Robert Poplin, Tim Harwood, and Elizabeth Harwood. He is survived by his children, Rebecca Poplin, Jeffrey Poplin, and Erika Carrasco; three beloved grandchildren; his fiancée, Teena Morgan; and her children, Hope and Dalton. He is also survived by his siblings Sandy Hicks, Wayne Poplin, Tammy Purvis, Lisa Hatley, Suzanne Shields, Kaylene Foreman, and Bradley Poplin.
Randy grew up in Locust, North Carolina, and attended West Stanly High School. He later made his home in Albemarle, where his roots and heart remained. Growing up on a farm shaped him into a hardworking man with a deep love for the land. He had an incredible talent for carpentry, creating beautiful works from cabinets to hope chests to shelves—turning even the smallest scraps into something special. His creations were not just pieces of wood but pieces of himself, shared with family and friends. Never met a stranger; if you crossed Randy's path, you likely walked away having shared a conversation, a laugh, or a story.
Randy loved with his whole heart—family, friends, and anyone he chose to call his own. He was always willing to lend a hand, whether fixing a fence, repairing a home, or helping in any way he could. His work ethic, generosity, and kindness will be remembered by all who knew him.
A celebration of Randy’s life will be held at Open Door Baptist Church (24639 State Hwy 49 Suite B, Richfield, NC 28137) on Thursday August 14th at 6pm for family and friends to gather, share memories, and honor his legacy.
