Randy Hurt, 63, of Danville, Illinois, passed away on January 26, 2026, in his hometown. Born on March 30, 1962, in Danville, Randy spent his life deeply rooted in the community he loved and served with unwavering dedication.
For over two decades, Randy worked at Worksource, where he devoted himself to helping individuals with disabilities find meaningful employment in the public sector. His commitment to advocacy and empowerment extended beyond his professional role—he served for many years on the board of Eastern Illinois Special Olympics, championing inclusion and opportunity for all. His passion for education led him to teach at VASE and VOTEC programs, where he inspired countless students. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to teaching and mentorship, Randy was honored with the prestigious Golden Ruler Award—an accolade reserved for exemplary educators in Illinois.
Randy’s impact reached far beyond the classroom and workplace. Known for his boisterous laugh and magnetic personality, he had a unique gift for making everyone feel like family. If you were a stranger when you met him, you wouldn’t be one for long—Randy had a way of connecting dots between people until he found common ground or a shared acquaintance. His presence lit up every room he entered; his joy was infectious and his generosity boundless.
He found simple pleasures in life that brought him great happiness—cruising around town and along Route 1 was one of his favorite pastimes. He also had an unmatched enthusiasm for shopping at Goodwill, always on the hunt for hidden treasures or just enjoying the thrill of the find.
Randy is survived by his beloved wife Beverly; his son Alex; two brothers, Jim and Ernest; his special adopted mother Sara Snyder; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins who cherished him dearly. He was preceded in death by his mother Erma, father Ernest, niece Holly, and aunt Karen.
Randy’s legacy is one of compassion, humor, service, and love—a life lived fully and generously. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire acts of kindness in others.
