Randy's obituary
Randy Detter, affectionately known as “RayRay,” passed away on December 16, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the age of 72. Born on July 21, 1953, in Hutchinson, Kansas, Randy lived a life defined by joy, generosity, and an unmistakable zest for living.
Randy was a man with a vibrant personality who truly lived life to the fullest. Known as the life of the party, he could light up any room with his laughter, dancing, and stories. He had a deep love for live music, never missing a chance to hit the dance floor. He loved sports from a young age and was fondly a coach for a variety of his kids’ sports, most notably for his daughter’s soccer team for many years. He was a devoted fan of the Kansas Jayhawks and the Denver Broncos, cheering them on with passion and pride. He could frequently be heard chanting “Rock Chalk, Jayhawk” at any given moment.
A dedicated business owner, Randy worked hard and took pride in what he built, but his greatest devotion was always to his family. He was a loving father and grandfather, a role he cherished above all else. He was also a generous friend, always ready to help, share a meal, or bring people together. An excellent cook, Randy showed his love through food, laughter, and time spent with those he cared about.
Randy is survived by his former wives Michelle Sauer, Libby Bloom, and Sharon Detter; his children Jacob Detter, Phillip Detter, Carly Rodriguez and her husband Ryan Rodriguez, and Jeffrey Gallaway and his wife Tiffany Gallaway; his sister Christina Patton and her husband Jon Patton; his sister-in-law Debbie Detter; and his cherished grandchildren Ally King, Mackenzie Detter, Grace Detter, Haley Detter, Isabelle Detter, Booker Detter, Nolan Detter, Oliver Rodriguez, Hudson Rodriguez, Faith Carlson, Grace Carlson, Noah Gallaway, and Tucker Gallaway.
