Randall's obituary
Born in Dallas in 1963, Randy began his lifelong pursuit of hell-raising in his hometown of Celina, Texas. After his high school graduation in 1981, Randy chose to enter the United States Marine Corps in 1983, where he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and served as Corporal. As a true Renaissance man, Randy would later go on to work successfully in multiple industries including construction, landscaping, aviation supply, automotive mechanics, freight management, hazardous materials transportation, and heavy equipment hauling, which resulted in him spending much of his life traveling the country with his family. On his days off, however, he most enjoyed perfecting his grilling technique during summer cookouts, restoring old cars and wares, listening to Stevie Ray Vaughn, watching his favorite Westerns, and sipping whiskey with his best friends Johnny and Dale during their countless pool games.
Randy is survived by his large and well-loved family, including Diane, his wife of 27 years, and his three daughters Maggie, Hunter, and Laramie; his sons-in-law Mike and Josh, grandchildren Brady and Eric, and favorite little great grand-farmer, Ellis; his mother, Ann, father, Bob, and stepmother, Suzy; his sisters Laurie and Kristie, sister-in-law Karen, steps-siblings Amy and Vance, and brothers-in-law Bill and Todd; his nieces Hannah, Brianna, and Kate, nephews Noah, Seth, and Sam, and grand-nephew Austin, all of whom he loved dearly. He also spent countless hours doting on his many pet dogs, who regarded him as the best grandpaw ever, and shooting the breeze with his best friends Dale, Johnny, Bruce, and Tim.
Anyone who met Randy was sure to fall in love with his finer-than-frog-hair personality. Many of those who knew him will also attest to his stubbornness, hardworking nature, and tell-all honesty that perfectly complimented his colorful vocabulary and expressions. No matter the situation, his constant wit and humor permeated the entirety of his life, bringing endless joy, ingenuity, and smartassery--of which he declared himself to be a master--to every moment. For all of this and so much more, Randy will be missed beyond belief.
A casual memorial for Randy will be held at a later date to be determined, and will include food, games, and a celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you have a shot or two of your favorite bourbon in his honor, and that you consider donating to help the family place a Memorial Brick for Randy at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, Virginia.
